  • Southwestern Oregon Community College is the southern Oregon coast's go-to destination for high-skill, career-technical job training, college transfer degrees, and community enrichment courses. Established in 1961, the college serves Coos, Curry and western Douglas counties from its Coos and Curry campuses. Students choose from 40+ programs of study and lead the state for fastest time to degree completion. Southwestern's main Coos Campus, located in Coos Bay offers apartment-style student housing, dining services, 18 different 19 athletic teams in 11 sports, and many student clubs and activities. It's home to the renowned Oregon Coast Culinary Institute (OCCI), a library, recreation center, and cafeteria. Newly renovated facilities like Umpqua Hall inspire future scientists, engineers, and healthcare professionals, while Coaledo and Sumner Halls provide state-of-the-art spaces for Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. The new Fire Training Tower adds cutting-edge training opportunities for fire science students and local organizations.
